· Jason “Mayhem” Miller Added To UFC Roster, Takes On Aaron Simpson
The UFC has added the colorful mixed martial arts talent Jason "Mayhem" Miller to its roster of fighters. The signing was first reported by MMAFighting.com and confirmed by Miller himself. Miller holds a professional record of 24-7 with one no contest for his career. He previously competed in the UFC in a welterweight matchup against Georges St-Pierre.
An journeyman of sorts, Miller has fought for several organizations including Dream, Strikeforce, and Icon Sport. Outside of the cage, he does color commentary on occasion and hosts his own reality show, "Bully Beatdown," on MTV. No timetable has been set for his first UFC bout, nor has an opponent been announced.
Miller has won his last two bouts. His last competition was against Kazushi Sakuraba in Japan for the Dream organization in September. He defeated Sakuraba by submission.
In November 2009, Miller fought for the then-vacant Strikeforce middleweight championship against current welterweight number one contender Jake Shields. The fight went all five rounds with Shields winning the decision but Miller came within a few seconds of picking up a potential submission win in the second round as he had Shields locked into an airtight choke that ended at the bell.
Miller is also known for his bitter rivalry with current Strikeforce middleweight champion Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza. The two have fought each other twice before. Miller lost the first bout and the second was ruled a no contest due to an illegal head kick delivered to Souza.
In his lone UFC appearance at UFC 52 in April 2005, Miller took Georges St-Pierre the distance, losing via unanimous decision.
For his career, Miller holds notable wins over Robbie Lawler, Tim Kennedy, Denis Kang, Toby Imada, Kala Hose, and Sakuraba.
Update:
An opponent has recently been announced for the newly-signed Miller. He will face Aaron Simpson (8-2) at "UFC 132: Cruz vs. Faber 2" this July.
“Crafty veteran and colorful personality Jason “Mayhem” Miller has verbally agreed to make his UFC return against powerful wrestler Aaron “A-Train” Simpson in a middleweight matchup July 2 in Las Vegas,” stated UFC President Dana White.
