“M-1 Challenge XXV: Zavurov vs. Enomoto” concluded earlier today with two championship belts being awarded. At the top of the card, Welterweight Champion Shamil Zavurov held onto his title in a tough-fought five round affair, defeating challenger Yasubey Enomoto by unanimous decision.

“Tonight was a great night of fights featuring rising prospects and experienced veterans,” M-1 Global Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan stated. “Enomoto put on a stellar performance in his debut outing, taking Zavurov the distance with an awesome display of jiu-jitsu and striking. We can’t wait to see him back in the ring.”

In the co-main event, Brazilian light heavyweight Vinny Magalhaes battled Russian fighter Viktor Nemkov in a gritty and action-packed contest where each fighter left it all in the ring. Nearly going the distance, a bloody and exhausted Magalhaes managed a takedown in the third, and after gaining the mount, submitted Nemkov via gogoplata neck crank to capture the vacant light heavyweight crown.

“There is a reason why Magalhaes sports highly decorated BJJ credentials and he once again delivered on a win with an astonishing mounted gogoplata. It was an impressive submission victory,” Kogan added.

Also on the card, Luigi Fioravanti saw his five-fight win streak come to an end in a three round slugfest with Russian fighter Andrei Semenov. In his return to MMA from a nearly three year absence, Semenov picked up the unanimous decision win.
