Fresh off his successful Maximum Fighting Championship lightweight debut, Marcus "The Irish Hand Grenade" Davis makes his return to welterweight at “MFC 30: Up Close & Personal” to take on fellow UFC veteran Pete "The Secret Weapon" Spratt in a rematch of their UFC 69 contest. MFC 30 is scheduled for June 10 at the Mayfield Conference Centre in Edmonton, Alberta and airs live on HDNet at 10 p.m. ET.

“There will be no shortage of fireworks in this fight,” MFC Owner/President Mark Pavelich exclaimed. “I can’t see anything but explosive excitement happening. This should be an awesome display—one of the best all-out wars the MFC has ever put together.”

In his first fight for the promotion at “MFC 29: Conquer” this past April, the 37-year-old Davis (18-8) met the highly-touted younger fighter, 22-year-old Curtis “The Demon” Demarce. While Demarce demonstrated tremendous potential and nearly succeeded in handing Davis his third consecutive defeat, Davis’s experience proved too much in the end as he he walked away with a hard-fought split decision win.

Fighting out of Bangor, Maine, Davis holds notable career wins over Chris Lytle, Paul Taylor and Paul Kelly, among others.

Originally set to face Richie “Hell Boy” Whitson in a lightweight tilt at MFC 30, Davis was left without an opponent when Whitson withdrew following a severe foot injury. Long-time MFC fighter, 40-year-old Spratt (22-19) was more than willing to step in for his sixth fight for the organization, and a chance for redemption against Davis.

Davis and Spratt first clashed in April of 2007 with Davis coming out of the bout the victor, submitting Spratt with an Achilles lock in the second round. Despite continuing to show a susceptibility to submissions, in all likelihood the sequel may never hit the ground—given both combatants’ penchant for standup battles.

Spratt last competed at MFC 29, along with Davis, where he bested Demi Deeds via armbar submission at the start of round two. “The Secret Weapon” has victories over a who's who list of fighters, including Rich Clementi, Robbie Lawler, Matt Brown and Luigi Fioravanti. He holds the 2009 MFC “Knockout of the Year” honor for his uppercut knockout of Nathan Gunn at “MFC 22: Payoff.”
