· Dan Lauzon vs. Noah Weisman Lightweight Title Fight Set For WCF 11
Two of New England’s rising lightweights battle for the World Championship Fighting title belt, as UFC veteran Dan "The Upgrade" Lauzon meets Noah Weisman in the main event at WCF 11. Scheduled for June 18 from the Aleppo Shriners Auditorium in Wilmington, Mass., the co-main event features a contest between former Sityodtong training partners Greg Rebello and Scott Rehm.
Lauzon (14-4), the younger brother of Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Joe Lauzon, holds the distinction of being the youngest fighter to compete for the UFC. In that endeavor, just 18 years old, he faced Spencer Fisher at “UFC 64: Unstoppable” in October 2006, where he succumbed via technical knockout in the first round.
Following a second stint with the UFC and thirteen fights later, “The Upgrade” enters the WCF ring for a fifth time with fours wins for the promotion. Lauzon last competed at “CES MMA 3: Snow Brawl” in December where he submitted Damien Trites by guillotine choke at 1:54 of the first round.
Weisman (5-1) is quickly making a name for himself in the Northeast fight scene. His five wins include two technical knockouts and two submission victories, and he has yet to be finished in his short career. Also making his fifth WCF appearance, Weisman most recently fought at “Friday Night Fights New England: Burlington” against Joel Ly, defeating Ly in the second round by technical knockout. He brings a three-fight win streak into the match with Lauzon.
For the co-main event, Rebello (12-3), a Bellator and WCF veteran, is coming off a decision loss to fellow “The Ultimate Fighter” alumn Dan Cramer at Bellator 39 this April. Prior to that slip, Rebello posted 11 consecutive winning performances.
Rehm (5-4), a former teammate of Rebello’s at the Sityodtong Muay Thai and MMA Academy, recently broke a two-fight skid when he defeated Pat Schulz (another TUF cast member) by knockout in the first stanza at “CFX 10: Schultz vs. Rehm.”
Additional WCF 11 fight card announcements are expected shortly.
