· Cage Warriors 42 Results, Duffy Remains Unblemished

Through eight previous professional bouts lightweight Joseph Duffy has not only avoided defeat, but has finished each and every one of his opponents in the first round. Saturday’s Cage Warriors 42 matchup against Oriol Gaset would be no different. Duffy needed just under three minutes to pound out another impressive victory, pushing his record to 9-0 with nine stoppages. Also impressive from Cork City, Ireland were Jake Hecht, Cathal Pendred, and more.

Ireland’s growing number of mixed martial arts fans were treated to another in a long line of terrific MMA events being held on the Emerald Isle. Saturday’s Cage Warriors 42 event, from Cork City, Ireland, had fireworks from the very beginning.

Following the opening three amateurs bouts, the 10 professional bouts on the card all ended without having to rely on the judges’ scorecards.

Tim Newman, arguably the sport’s top Welsh fighter, made a very quick appearance, ending his bout against Grezegorz Tredowski in just 10 seconds via vicious knockout. Cathal Pendred made a successful Cage Warriors debut defeating local favorite Vlad Malko by second round technical knockout. And Jake Hecht, moving to middleweight, looked sharp throughout his bout against Craig White. Hecht won by submission in the second round.

In the main event, Joseph Duffy faced off with the toughest test of his career in Oriol Gaset. While Gaset presented matchup problems for Duffy on paper, reality showed that Duffy is nearly ready to make a major step forward in competition, as he was well prepared and had scouted his opponent thoroughly.

For Duffy, outside of his disappointing loss on “The Ultimate Fighter,” he has never tasted defeat, rolling up a combined amateur and professional record of 24-0-5. With the eyes of the MMA world starting to pay attention to Cage Warriors, and Duffy specifically, his next bout is likely to be another stern test.
