Continuing to strengthen their lightweight division, Bellator Fighting Championships announced the recent signing of Brazilian striker Thiago Michel Pereira Silva. A kickboxing and Muay Thai champion, Silva is equally established in Brazil’s mixed martial arts fight scene and looks to make his United States debut within the next few months.
“I've always dreamt of being part of a great promotion like Bellator,” Silva stated. “Now that I have this opportunity, I need to grab onto it with everything that I have.”
At 27 years old, Silva has demonstrated an explosive striking aptitude across combat sports genres. In MMA he holds a record of eight professional wins to two losses—with each of those victories coming by way of knockout.
“I am inspired to give a better life to my son and my family,” Silva continued. “Now I just need to do my job and show my style. I promise that I will always put on good fights for all the fans watching in attendance and live on MTV2.”
While no specific date or opponent has been announced, the talented and motivated fighter has already impressed the Bellator brass.
“Our stacked lightweight division with Eddie Alvarez, Michael Chandler, Rene Nazare, Patricky Pitbull and many others just got stronger with another tremendously talented fighter in Thiago Michel,” Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney remarked.
