· Chris Horodecki vs. Chris Saunders Tops Bellator 47 Feature Fights
Ontario native Chris “The Polish Hammer” Horodecki is set to make his promotional debut as Bellator Fighting Championships makes their first venture outside of the United States at Bellator 47. On July 23 Horodecki faces Chris “The So Cal Kid” Saunders in the headlining feature fight bout live from the Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario Canada and broadcast on MTV2.
At just 23 years old, Horodecki is a veteran of both the now defunct World Extreme Cagefighting and the International Fight League. He holds a record of 20 wins and three losses, and maintained a 12 fight win-streak to open his professional mixed martial arts career. “The Polish Hammer” split four fights in his WEC tenure and was cut following his second loss.
Working his way back on track, Horodecki picked up a recent submission finish over David Castillo at “MMA 1: The Reckoning” in April.
“Fighting for a promotion like Bellator in front of my friends and family is just a dream come true,” he stated. “I had a great fight at Casino Rama back in April, and I’m just looking to build off that at Bellator 47.”
A former Canadian resident himself, Saunders (9-1) is riding a wave of seven consecutive victories into the match.
“Along with two unbelievable featherweight semifinal fights, our feature fights are loaded with great talent,” Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney exclaimed. “Canada truly is a hotbed for our sport, and I can’t wait for Bellator 47 on July 23rd.”
Bellator 47’s main card showcases two featherweight semifinal contests pitting Pat Curran (14-4) against British striker Ronnie “Kid Ninja” Mann (20-3-1) and Brazilian jiu-jitsu fighter Marlon Sandro versus the Argentine Nazareno Malegarie (20-1).
