· Former Champ Lyman Good Joins Bellator Season Four Tournament
Lyman Good (10-1, 3-1 BFC) will begin his Bellator journey again. The first-ever Bellator welterweight champion will be part of the season four welterweight tournament, the organization announced today. Good joins Dan Hornbuckle, Rick Hawn, Brent Weedman, and Chris Lozano in the eight-man draw.
After claiming the inaugural 170-pound title after winning the season one welterweight tournament, Good lost his title to season two champion Ben Askren during the most recent season. Now, his goal is to once again defeat his foes in order to receive another shot at Askren.
“I'm going to be unveiling "Lyman 2.0" this time around,” said Good. “In a sense you're going to see a newer version of me, but at the same time I will always have what defines me as a fighter.”
Still just 25 years old, Good still has yet to enter the prime of his fighting career. A rivalry with Askren is his current motivating factor.
"Being able to fight [Ben] Askren again was one of the biggest factors behind me entering this tournament. I can't walk away from an opportunity to avenge a loss to a person that I know deep down - with the proper amount of preparation - I can beat,” said Good. “But right now there are three bodies I'm going to have to get through before I focus on somebody that's walking around with something that belongs to me.”
The Bellator season four welterweight tournament will begin in March and will be broadcast on MTV2. Jay Hieron, Steve Carl, and Jim Wallhead are also expected to be part of the tournament.
