Tonight's "UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones" event will be broadcast on pay-per-view from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.  The event features a light heavyweight title main event matchup between champion Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and the electric Jon "Bones" Jones. Also featured will be both of the Miller brothers, Dan and Jim in action. Catch all the live blow-by-blow action as we bring you live coverage of the main broadcast card round-by-round.

The prelims are over and the main card is coming up. If the Main Event card is anything like the fights earlier this evening, we will be in for a treat.

 

* Because the UFC will occassionally broadcast undercard bouts during the pay-per-view, the prelims will not be updated until the event has completed.

Raphael Assuncao vs. Eric Koch  (Unaired Prelim)

Round 1 - Assuncao with an early leg kick. Koch misses with a head kick. Assuncao with another leg kick. Koch looking for an opening. Koch misses with another headkick. Koch lands a right. Assuncao misses with a combination. Assuncao lands a leg kick and follws it with a left. Koch with back to back leg kicks. Koch with a kick to the chest. Assuncao steps in with left and Koch lands a right hook, knocking Assuncao out.

Official Decision - Eric Koch wins by KO (punch) at 2:32 of Round 1

 

Nick Catone vs. Constantinos Philippou  (Unaired Prelim)

Official Decision - Nick Catone wins by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

 

Joseph Benavidez vs. Ian Loveland  (Unaired Prelim)

Official Decision -Joseph Benavidez wins by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)


Kurt Pellegrino vs. Gleison Tibau  (Facebook Prelim)

Official Decision - Gleison Tibau wins by split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)


Mike Pyle vs. Ricardo Almeida  (Facebook Broadcast)

Official Decision - Mike Pyle wins by unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

 

Anthony Njokuani vs. Edson Barboza (Spike TV Broadcast)

Official Decision - Edson Barboza wins by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

 

Luis Cane vs. Eliot Marshall  (Spike TV Broadcast)

Round 1 - Marshall looks to take it down quickly, but is stuffed. Marshall lands a good leg kick, but has another takedown stuffed. Can with a good inside leg kick, followed by a left. Marshall eats a big punch and drops to his back. Cane pounces on him and pounds away. Marshall rolling around to avoid having the fight stopped, but Cane continues to beat him down. Finally the referee steps in and stops the contest.

Official Decision - Luis Cane wins by TKO (strikes) at 2:15 of Round 1

 

Mirko Filipovic vs. Brendan Schaub

Round 1 - Schaub paws with the jab, lands a kick to the body. Schaub rushes in and lands a good uppercut. CroCop ties up, lands a knee to the midsection. Schaub switches and pins CroCop into the cage. Schaub causes a break with a blow to the back of the head. Schaub ducks under a punch and takes CroCop down. As Schaub stands, CroCop lands an upkick.  Schaub attacks, falling into 's guard. Schaub lands several big shots from the guard, CroCop tries to tie him up. CroCop rolls and gets up to his feet. Schaub pushes off the fence, as CroCop avoids the takedown. The two battle it out against the cage as the round closes. Schaub takes the opening round 10-9.

Round 2 - Schaub lands a straight right to open up the round. CroCop starts moving forward, lands a kick, but gets taken down. CroCop lands an illegal upkick that stops the fight temporarily. CroCop lands a left on the restart. Both men trade knees to the body along the cage. Schaub staying active landing good shots. CroCop works to get free, but Schaub continues to stay close and keep CroCop from creating space. Both men switch quickly as they battle along the cage. Dean steps in and takes a point away from Schaub for a strike to the back of the head. Under a minute to go in the round, Schaub lands a good right then a knee, before tying back up. CroCop lands an elbow right before the bell. The round is a 9-9 draw due to the point deduction.

Round 3 - CroCop lands an inside leg kick, that lands a little too high. Schaub wences in pain and the action is stopped. CroCop rushes in landing a good elbow. Schaub ducks under a jab and takes CroCop down. As Schaub postures up CroCop pushes free, but only breifly. Schaub takes him right back down. Schaub passes to half-guard, and CroCop gets free before any damage. CroCop lands a left. Schaub misses on a takedown attempt. CroCop throws the headkick, but is blocked. Ninety seconds to go. Schaub has another takedown stuffed. Both men wind up for haymakers, CroCop for a headkick, Schaub with a punch. Schaub lands first, catching CroCop on the temple and knocks him out.

Official Decision - Brendan Schaub wins by KO (punch) at 3:44 of Round 3

 

Nate Marquardt vs. Dan Miller

Round 1 - Marquardt opens up with a good right hand. The two clinch, and Marquardt rolls for a choke. He gives it up. Miller stays close working for a takedown. Marquardt defends very well, until Miller finally bounces him off the cage to get him off balance. Marquardt seated against the cage, Miller working to get a better position. Miller has Marquardt locked in a guillotine. Marquardt keeps moving to keep from getting locked in guard. Miller abandons the choke. Miller on his back, working for position, Marquardt not doing much damage. Back to their feet, Marquardt elevates Miller and slams him down. The two continue to work until the bell. Marquardt takes the opening round 10-9.

Round 2 - Marquardt lands a right, then throws a head kick. Miller blocks it, and answers with a straight right of his own. Marquardt lands a jab to the body. Marquardt lands a headkick at the end of an exchange. Marquardt looks to follow up with a flying knee. Miller catches it and takes him down. Marquardt gets back to his feet, lands a good right hand. Miller with a straight kick. Marquardt lands a right, but Miller lands an equally powerful counter. Marquardt again with a heavy right, and gets the takedown. Miller gets the guillotine again, and squeezes. Marquardt gets free, and is in position to grind out the round on top of Miller. Marquardt wins another round, 10-9.

Round 3 - Both men trade rights, and Marquardt looks for a head kick. Marquardt staying agressive although ahead on the cards. Marquardt with a left, then a right. Miller digs for a takedown, but has it stuffed. Marquardt tries to spin to Miller's back, but Miller rolls and gets to guard. Both men working elbows, Marquardt takes the advantage there, being on top. Marquardt continues to pressure down on Miller with less than ninetyseconds left. Marquardt still working elbows, while pinning Miller into the cage. Miller looking for a triangle, but just not enough time left. The round closes and Marquardt takes it 10-9 as well.

Official Decision - Nate Marquardt wins by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

 

Jim Miller vs. Kamal Shalorus

Round 1 - Miller coming out quick. Shalorus strong as well. Miller landing a good combination, Shalorus answers with a haymaker. Shalorus lands a grazing left, Miller with a leg kick. Shalorus answers with one of his own. Shalorus lands another good leg kick. Both trading well in the exchanges. Miller with a headkick. Miller still picking his shots. Looks for a guillotine, misses, and ends up underneath Shalorus. Shalorus moves Miller into the cage before the referee stands them up. Both men with a exchange landing left hands at the same time. Shalorus with a leg kick. Miller with another headkick. The round closes. Its a close round, but likely taken 10-9 by Miller.

Round 2 - Both men still trading powerful punches. Shalorus with a leg kick. Shalorus looks for a takedown, Miller looks for a triangle. The fight gets back to the feet quickly. Miller gets a quick takedown and transitions right to the back. Miller locks in the body triangle, and starts to work towards the choke. Miller still working, Shalorus defends for a moment. Shalorus still defending, while Miller still looking for the opening to to take the choke. Shalorus bucks and breaks the body lock, and is able to ride out the round without being submitted. Miller takes the round 10-9.

Round 3 - Miller slowly looking to to pick apart Shalorus. Shalorus takes a shot a little low. Miller lands a big left, followed by a knee, dropping Shalorus. Miller pounces on top of him and the referee steps in. Miller electric in victory.

Official Decision - Jim Miller wins by TKO (strikes) at 2:15 of Round 3


Urijah Faber vs. Eddie Wineland

Round 1 - Faber looks to clinch quickly, Wineland presses him into the cage. Faber looks for the trip, Wineland avoids it. Faber shoots in quickly, but Wineland keeps his feet under him. Faber working hard to get separation, but Wineland continues to pressure and stay on his feet. Wineland swims to the back and picks up Faber, slamming him belly first to the ground. Faber right back up and separated. Faber looks for a head kick, misses. Faber though pushing forward, landing to the body. Faber again shoots, but Wineland avoids. Faber with an inside leg kick, Wineland with straight right. Faber backs away and resets. Wineland with an inside leg kick. The round closes, its close, Faber likely takes it for the agression.

Round 2 - Wineland circling quickly, Faber staying low. Wineland misses with a 3-punch combination. Faber grabs a single-leg, and kicks the other leg out from under Wineland. Wineland gets to guard, Faber lands a good elbow. Wineland trying to tie up, Faber stands and slams him down. Faber with another elbow. Faber with several rights. Wineland tries to slip out, but Faber stays on top. Faber postures up again, but Wineland doing a good job of avoid anything damaging, with overhooks. Faber lands another elbow at the bell. Faber takes the round 10-9, maybe 10-8.

Round 3 - Wineland with a jab, but missing with the majority of his distance punches. Faber to the body with a left. The two tie up and Faber breaks out. Wineland with a leg kick. Faber sinks for a takedown, but Wineland avoids. Back in the center of the cage, bith men are picking their shots carefully. Faber with two big right hands. Wineland answers with a jab, but Faber is connecting with speed. Faber looks for another takedown, misses the first attempt, but stays with it and gets the second. Faber explodes into an elbow. Wineland having less success this round trying to tie up Faber. Faber ends the round looking to land a big punch. Faber takes the round and the fight.

Official Decision - Urijah Fabers wins by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)


Main Event:  Mauricio Rua vs. Jon Jones
UFC Light Heavyweight Championship

Round 1 - Jones comes right out with a flying knee and a head kick. Rua avoids. Jones ducks under a Rua punch and takes the fight down. Rua throwing his legs up on Jones. Jones staying high. Rua gets to full guard, but Jones frees a leg quickly. Jones with an elbow across the throat keeps Rua away from his legs. Jones with an elbow. Jones lands a couple of elbows to the ribs. Rua pushes away, trying to stand. Jones lands a knee, then a left and a right. Rua looks dazed. Jones with  side kick to the leg. Jones with a left to the body and a knee to the head. Jones with a leg kick. Rua answers with a left, then a right over the top.  Rua looks for a leg, and misses, Jones ends the round on top. Jones takes round 1 10-9.

Round 2 - Jones with a series of kicks, one to the knee of Rua. Jones breaks the clich with a spinning back elbow. Jones again with a leg kick, then a high kick. Rua works in close, Jones lands a knee to the midsection. Rua with a left.Jones answers with a right. Jones lands a hook to the body. Jones counters a kick with a left. Rua still walking him down. Jones lands another right. Jones steps in and takes Rua down. Jones lands an elbow from Rua's guard. Jones again, working elbows to Rua's ribs. Jones with a short elbow, cutting off Rua's wind with a forearm across the throat. Jones with an elbow to the throat. Jones swings for a leg lock as the bell sounds. Jones with another round, 10-9.

Round 3 - Jones with an early body kick. Jones misses with an uppercut. Jones misses with a head kick. Rua looks for a leg lock. Jones spins away from it and after the scramble is right back on top of the champion. Jones lands a good left-right-left combination. Jones lands a thunderous left hand. Jones opens up with a series of elbows. Rua stands, but is in a complete daze. Jones attacks and finishes the champion with left to the body and a knee.

Official Decision - Jon Jones wins by TKO (knee) 2:37 of Round 3
