· Cage Warriors 43 Recap & Results
Saturday evening’s Cage Warriors 43 event from the HMV Forum in London, England featured yet another entertaining card, full of fantastic finishes and slick submissions. A pair of “The Ultimate Fighter” cast alums, Joseph Duffy and Norman Paraisy, were booked in individual co-main event bouts. Both emerged from the evening victorious, as did a host of other up-and-coming European stars.
In the Cage Warriors 43 main event Norman Paraisy, coming off a victory over Paulo Filho in May, faced off with Jack Mason. Through the first two rounds neither fighter was overly effective, each neutralizing the other at every turn. However, late in the third round Paraisy finally found a crack in Mason’s armor. With a perfectly place knee strike, the 10-1-1 Frenchman dropped Mason and pounded out the finish with just over a minute left in the bout.
The co-main event featured undefeated and recently dominant Irish product Joseph Duffy against always tough Francis Heagney and proved to be a great match up. While Duffy had laid waste to his first nine opponents, winning all nine in the first round, Heagney’s well-balanced repertoire of skills proved hard to crack.
The bout was back-and-forth through the first two rounds; each man showing solid skills all over the cage. However, in the third Duffy showed his toughness and ability to drive through fatigue by dominating the third round. While the judges scored the fight heavily for Duffy, 30-26, 29-27, 30-27, Heagney made it a tough fight to score, and gave Joseph Duffy the toughest fight of his career to date.
In other action, Brad Wheeler bounced back from his recent disqualification loss to Ian Entwistle by submitting Entwistle in the first round using a rare back mounted triangle choke. Andreas Kraniotakes showed brilliant grappling with his first round armbar victory over 6’10” Dave Keeley.
