Marcus Davis vs Ben Saunders Expected For UFC 106 In November
posted by J. Andrew Yount
Two of the UFC welterweight division’s most popular fighters are reportedly set to face off against one another on November 21, at UFC 106. The reports state that Ben Saunders will meet Marcus Davis in a pivotal bout for both fighters. With each man coming off losses, a second consecutive loss for either fighter could move them way down the ladder in what many believe to be the organizations deepest division.
Ben ‘Killa B’ Saunders (7-1-2) an American Top Team product may be best known for his destruction of Brandon Wolffe at last year’s Fight For The Troops, when he landed a furious amount of knees from the clinch. Saunders suffered his first defeat at UFC 99 to Mike Swick by second round TKO. However, the former Ultimate Fighter contestant is still considered to be one of the best prospects in the sport, largely due to his effective striking and quickly improving ground game.
Davis (16-5), on the other hand, is coming off a decision loss to Dan ‘The Outlaw’ Hardy at the same UFC 99 event. Hardy and Davis engaged in a heated pre-fight exchange of words leading up to the bout, culminating with Hardy earning the razor-thin decision. ‘The Irish Hand Grenade’ has picked up many fans in and out of the UFC because of his aggressive style and pension to make every fight exciting. Davis has earned several Fight of the Night bonuses during his tenure in the UFC.
UFC 106 is slated for November 21, just one week after UFC 105, from the Mandalay bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per-view event card has yet to be finalized, but the card is expected to include:
Brock Lesnar vs. Shane Carwin
Mark Coleman vs. Tito Ortiz
Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida
Ricardo Almeida vs. Jon Fitch
Dustin Hazelett vs. Karo Parisyan
Marcus Davis vs. Ben Saunders
Phil Baroni vs. Amir Sadollah
