Matt Hamill vs. Jon Jones In The Works For "TUF 10 Finale"
posted by C. M. Holden
According to a recent report from MMAjunkie.com, the camps for Matt "The Hammer" (7-2) and Jon "Bones" Jones (9-0) are currently negotiating a bout agreement that will set up a head-to-head meeting between the two rising prosp- ects. The light heavyweight contest is tentatively proposed for "The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale," scheduled to take place on December 5 in Las Vegas, Nev. The match is expected the serve as the co-main event.
Though there has been verbal confirmation, the contractual agreements have not yet been final- ized.
Hamill was previously slated to face Brandon "The Truth" Vera at "UFC 102: Couture vs. Nogueira" at the end of August. However, a knee injury suffered during training prompted his removal from the card, and Krzysztof Soszynski stepped in as a late replacement. Prior to his injury, Hamill last fought at "UFC 96: Jackson vs. Jardine" where he defeated Mark "The Philippine Wrecking Machine" Munoz via a vicious head kick knockout at 3:53 of the first round.
The 22 year-old Jones, a relative newcomer to the UFC, quickly made an electrifying impression within his division, and became somewhat of an over-night sensation with the fans, as he has become known for using a variety of unorthodox, yet creatively effective, techniques during his fights. He has three wins and no losses during his brief tenure with the UFC. His most recent victory was against Jake O'Brien at "UFC 100: Lesnar vs. Mir 2" in July. Jones submitted O'Brien with a guillotine choke at 2:43 of the second round.
"The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale" is scheduled to air live on Spike TV.
