· K-1 / Dream “Dynamite!! 2010” Live Round-By-Round Coverage

Tonight's K-1 / Dream "Dynamite!! 2010" event will be broadcast on HDNet from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.  The event features a heavyweight championship bout between Alistair Overeem and Todd Duffee. Also featured will be title defenses from Marius Zaromskis and Bibiano Fernandes. Although Bob Sapp has reportedly been scratched from tonight's card, fans will see top stars Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Shinya Aoki, Gegard Mousasi, Sergei Kharitonov, Ikuhisa Minowa, Hideo Tokoro, and Caol Uno in action. Catch all the live blow-by-blow action as we bring you live coverage of the main broadcast card round-by-round.

Andy Ologun vs. Katsuaki Furuki (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Furuki opens up throwing lots of punches, while Ologun clinched and threw knees to the body of the forum baseballer. The two tied up in the corner. Furuki looking for the takedown, until the ref separates them. Ologun rocks Furuki with a sharp right, dropping him. Ologun stays on the attack. Ologun opens up with some tough ground-and-pound. Ologun looks for a guillotine, but gives up position to Furuki. Furuki in mount gets free from the choke attempt as he opens up with some punches. Ologun escapes the position just before the bell. Close round likely goes to Ologun for the damage done early on.

Round 2 - Furuki opens the round throwing strong punches, but Ologun defends and blocks most of them. Furuki looks to take the fight back to the ground. Eventually he gets the trip, but Ologun ends up on top. Furuki reaches for a kimura as Ologun punches the body. Furuki gets the arm out and and works hard to get it pushed backwards. Ologun defends and spends nearly a minute fighting off the submission attempt. Furuki takes the mount and abandons the submission. Ologun sweeps and rolls over into Furuki's guard. Furuki takes advantage of a wild puncha dn secures a triangle, but the round comes to a close before he can fully secure the choke. Furuki easily takes the second round.

Round 3 - Ologun comes out looking much better this round, landing a couple good knees and kicks to the body. Furuki continues to look for the clinch and takedown. The referee resets the fighters and Ologun quickly opens up with a knee to the sternum. Furuki clinches and pushes the fight back into the corner. Again they are separated, and the fight again works it's way into the clinch in the corner.  Another separation, and Ologun gets off first again, but again, for the third straight time he is imediately backed into the corner. Ologun gets free and lands a big punch, dropping Furuki. Ologun rains down punches until the bell sounds. Ologun takes round three.

Decision - Andy Ologun wins by unanimous decision

Kazuyuki Miyata vs. Caol Uno (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Miyata and Uno come out circling until Uno lands a good straight left hand, causing Miyata to shoot in. Uno defends and separates. Miyata initiates another clinch, landing a solid knee to the body. Uno working in a variety of low kicks. Uno lands a right, Miyata answers with a pair of knees to the ribs. Both men trade kicks, and Uno lands another strong right hand. Under a minute to go, and Uno is beginning to find a home for his leg kicks. Miyata lands a good inside leg kick. Uno shoots in, but cannot finish the takedown before the bell sounds. Uno likely takes the opening round.

Round 2 - They open the second round trading inside leg kicks. Miyata swims underneath and gets Uno's back. He lifts Uno and throws him over his head for an impressive German suplex. He holds on to the back, but cannot follow up on the move. After a brief separation Miyata ducks under again and again gets the German suplex. He hangs on again, landing a sharp body kick as they separate. Miyata again sweeps under Uno and comes up with standing back control. The action pauses as the referee has the blood on Uno's face looked at. Miyata lands a great leg kick that visibly hurts Uno. Miyata again get the fight down, but cannot control as Uno stands and separates. The round closes with Uno landing a shot to the ribs. Miyata easily takes round two.

Round 3 - Miyata opens the round following a soft left jab with a takedown. Uno quickly looks for an armbar, but Miyata escapes the position. Miyata gets the back and lands another German suplex, to the delight of the crowd. Miyata continue to control Uno, taking his opponent's back at will. As the two stand Miyata lands a good right hook. Miyata shoots in again, getting another takedown. Uno working hard to escape, and does. But Miyata is stuck on him like glue. Miyata lands another inside leg kick, as Miyata again swims past Uno to take the back. Miyata cannot get another suplex, and rolls Uno back to the mat. Uno gets free and after a good scramble both are back standing again. Caol Uno, losing the fight is making a go of it, right up to the final bell, but Miyata should take this round and the fight.

Decision - Kazuyuki Miyata wins by unanimous decision

Hideo Tokoro vs. Kazuhisa Watanabe (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Tokoro quickly shoots in for a takedown. Tokoro again gets it down and attempts an armbar, when he loses that one he puts Watanabe in a stretcher. Watanabe survives, but Tokoro again looks for an armbar. Watanabe rolls lifts and attempts to slam Tokoro off, but he cannot seem to escape Tokoro. Tokoro takes the back and looks for a choke. He sinks it in and squeezes, but still cannot finish off Watanabe. Tokoro gives up the rear naked choke, and Tokoro tries to escape, he finally gets to standing position and resets. Watanabe lands a big punch, but cannot follow up as the round closes. Tokoro takes an exciting round one.

Round 2 - Tokoro instantly drops down for the single leg takedown. He easily gets to mount, and looks for the armbar. Watanabe survives what looks to be a locked in  armbar. Watanabe pulls his arm free and stands. After an axe kick attempt Tokoro takes the back of Watanabe. Watanabe stands, but is drug back down. Watanabe gets to his feet and forces Tokoro to stand. Tokoro lands a leg kick, and Watanabe answers with a jab. Tokoro gets an easy takedown after a Watanabe leg kick attempt. Tokoro again looks for the armbar. Watanabe rolls over and Tokoro takes his back. Under a minute and Tokoro again has a tight rear-naked choke, but only for a moment. Watanabe has survived nearly a dozen submission attempts in the first two rounds, but has lost both rounds convincingly.

Round 3 - Tokoro ducks under a big left hook attempt, taking Watanabe down. Tokoro reaches for an armbar, but Watanabe lifts him and tosses him towards the ropes. Tokoro appears to have injured his hand, and the action paues breifly. Watanabe again ends up on his back and again faces an armbar attempt. Tokoro abandons that position to take Watanabe's back. Watanabe rolls over into the guard, as Tokoro continues to work submission attempts. Finally Tokoro secures an armbar tight enough to finish the fight as Watanabe taps out.

Ikuhisa Minowa vs. Hiroshi Izumi (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Minowa comes out firing, landing a left jab followed by a right. He throws a front kick, dollowed by a body kick. Izumi has yet to let go with any offense. Minowa starting to settle in, now landing at a better rate. A body punch, followed by a pair of jabs. Izumi sidesteps Minowa and takes his back. Minowa rolls under, looking for a leg, but Izumi keeps his base and doesn't allow Minowa to get a grip. Izumi, in side control, presses down on Minowa. Izumi gets mount momentarily, but Minowa rolls and stands. In the corner Izumi pounds away with punches until the bell sounds. Izumi may have taken the round with the late push.

Round 2 - Minowa opens up the round with a snapping left jab. Izumi shoots in and gets a takedown, landing in side control. Izumi not doing much to finish, but is controlling Minowa. Izumi works into full mount, as Minowa rolls over, giving up his back. Minowa stands up in the corner. Izumi gets the fight back down, and starts to pound away on Minowa. Minowa survives the onslaught and gets a break as the referee resets them away from the ropes. Izumi, from Minowa's guard, postures up with some strikes. Minowa rolls, gives up his back again. The bell sounds. giving Izumi the round handily.

Round 3 - Izuma avoids an opening combination and gets a takedown. Izuma, back in side control, throws small punches to the head of Minowa. Minowa rolls over, stands, and is pounded on by Izumi. Izumi continues to punish the ears of Minowa with hammerfists.  Minowa survives nearly one hundred blows, and Izumi rolls him over, only to continue to beating. Finally, the referee steps in to save Minowa.

Decision - Hiroshi Izumi wins by TKO (punches) in Round 3

Sergei Kharitonov vs. Tatsuya Mizuno (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Mizuno looks to stick and move. He's popping in-and-out, landing one strike at a time. Kharitonov stalks. He catches a Mizuno kick and lands an uppercut. Another hook, a knee, and an uppercut and Mizuno is flat on his back. Sergei Kharitonov wins the fight by knockout.

Decision - Sergei Kharitonov wins by KO (punch)

Gegard Mousasi vs. Kyotaro (K-1 Rules: 3 x 3 minute rounds)

Round 1 - Mousasi mixing it up early with jabs and low kicks. Kyotaro bounces around working the inside leg kicks. Kyotaro answers a jab with a body kick. Mousasi misses a hook and takes a good left hand. Kyotaro swinging wildly with his hands, but is finding a home for the leg kicks. Mousasi ends the round with a good right hand. Close round, looks like a draw.

Round 2 - Mousasi opens with a combination, but Kyotaro is still landing good leg kicks. He lands a good combination on a relatively stationary Mousasi. Mousasi lands a left hook, followed quickly by a kick. Mousasi answers a waving punch and knocks down Kyotaro, getting the eight count. Mousasi rocks him again, stumbling the K-1 regular. Kyotaro ties up, and survives. Kyotaro survives the round, but Mousasi takes the round 10-8.

Round 3 - Kyotaro opens with inside leg kicks. Mousasi countering. Mousasi lands back-to-back jabs, but eats a leg kick again. Kyotaro throws a combination, but Mousasi blocks the punches. Kyotaro looking in tune, slipping most of Mousasi's punches this round.  Mousasi lands a knee as Kyotaro cotinues to keep a quick pace. Kyotaro lands a combination to close the round Kyotaro wins the third round.

Decision - Gegard Mousasi wins by unanimous decision

 

Shinya Aoki vs. Yuichiro Nagashima (K-1 / MMA Mixed Rules )

Round 1 (K-1 Rules: 3 min.) - Nagashima quickly comes out looking to land. Aoki side steps and clinches. Aoki again ducks and clinches. Aoki misses a head kick and falls. Then a drop kick attempt. Aoki smartly continues to throw himself to the floor, looking for the time to expire to get to the MMA round. Aoki intiates the clinch, and continues to flop. The referee warns Aoki. Now Aoki is running, the bell sounds and pushes the fight into Aoki's round.

Round 2 (MMA Rules: 5 min.) - Nagashima lands a huge knee as Aoki shoots in. Aoki is out cold. Nagashima lands a couple of useless hammerfists. Aoki is flat on his back and still unconcious ninety seconds after the fight was over.

Decision - Yuichiro Nagashima wins by KO (knee)

 

Alistair Overeem vs. Todd Duffee (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minutes)
Dream Interim Heavyweight Championship

Round 1 - Duffee comes out quick, but Overeem lands a big knee. Followed quickly by a Duffee clinch. Overeem though, knocks him out with a right hook, followed by a left hook. The fight was over before it ever began, just nineteen seconds.

Decision - Alistair Overeem wins by KO (punch) in Round 1

 

Jerome LeBanner vs. Satoshi Ishii (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minutes)

Round 1 - LeBanner stuffs the first takedown, but cannot stop the second. Ishii passes to side control. The two fight back-and-forth for position, little striking through the first two minutes on the ground. LeBanner pushes away and rolls, getting to his knees. Ishii takes his back, but LeBanner is up quickly. The referee breaks them up. LeBanner stuffs a takedown, landing a good knee to the midsection. LeBanner lands a pair of knees, and as Ishii tries to foot sweep LeBanner rolls over and falls on top. LeBanner takes Ishii's back, but he slips out the back, taking LeBanner's back. Ishii wings a punch that lands, rocking LeBanner slightly. The round ends with LeBanner standing over Ishii. LeBanner may have taken a close opening round.

Round 2 - Ishii quickly into the clinch. LeBanner defends well, as Ishii works hard for the takedown. Ishii lands an uppercut in the clinch. LeBanner goes down from a leg trip. Ishii, on top, looking to land some hammerfists. Ishii finding success with the ground-and-pound. LeBanner finally controls the posture, forcing the referee to set them back in the center of the cage. Ishii postures up, dropping in for a leg lock, but he gives up the position to LeBanner. LeBanner stands and forces Ishii up. Ishii quickly gets the fight back to the floor. LeBanner is running out of gas. Ishii has a leg lock, patiently looking finish. LeBanner escapes and lands a handful of punches. Exhausted, he cannot punch with the ferocity he'd like. The bell sounds. Ishii takes the second round.

Round 3 - Both men looking tired to open the round. Ishii keeping away from LeBanner. Ishii clinches, getting an easy takedown. Ishii works for position, finally getting to side control. LeBanner takes several hammerfists. Ishii looking for kimura. LeBanner avoids the first attempt. Ishii locks in another one, but LeBanner hangs on. Ishii now kneeing the shoulder of the K-1 legend. LeBanner is trapped on his back and now faces a third kimura attempt. LeBanner again stays out of danger. Ishii continues the grinding assault, taking LeBanner's back. He sinks in the hooks, but LeBanner holds on to get to the final bell, but he certainly lost the round and the fight.

Decision - Satoshi Ishii wins by unanimous decision

 

Marius Zaromskis vs. Kazushi Sakuraba (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minutes)
Dream Welterweight Championship

Round 1 - Zaromskis out quick with his trademark kicks. Sakuraba with front kicks. Zaromskis lands a straight left, snapping his head back. Another one drops him. He gets right back up. Sakuraba's ear has already started bleeding badl. They take a moment to look it over. Back in the fight, Zaromskis lands a body shot as Sakuraba answers with a hook. Zaromskis with an uppercut to the sternum. The action pauses again to look at the ear. The fight is called from what appears to be Sakuraba's ear being partially torn from its base. Zaromskis is declared the winner.

Decision - Marius Zaromskis wins via TKO (injury to ear) in Round 1

 

Akiyo Nishiura vs. Tetsuya Yamoto (K-1 Rules: 3 x 3 minutes)

Round 1 - Nishiura walks straight out, with his hands by his sides. Yamoto hesitant to let his hands go. Nishiura blocks several kicks and delivers a powerful right hand. Both men still feeling each other out a bit. Nishiura tip-toes in, closing the range. He lands a good right hand. The round closes without much damage done from either fighter. Neither fighter won the round.

Round 2 - Yamoto fires off a series of kicks, landing several to the legs and body. Nishiura lands a right. Nishiura catches a kick and dumps Yamoto. Nishiura lands a left, then a right. Yamoto stalking, but Nishiura is proving hard to hit. Nishiura counters a jab with a left-right combo. The round is scored a draw, as was the first.

Round 3 - Nishiura looking a bit more agressive this round. Landing the right hand at will. Yamoto continues to land the kicks, but with little damage. Nishiura lands a right and stumbles Yamoto, the referee does not call it a knockdown. Nishiura again opens up the offesnse, swinging wildly. Yamoto now comes alive, landing a pair of right hooks. Both men going toe-to-toe until the final bell. Should be a tough round to score.

Decision - Bout declared a draw (30-30, 30-29 Yamoto, 30-30) 

 

Hayato Sakurai vs. Jason High (MMA Rules: 3 x 5 minutes)

Round 1 - Sakurai opens things up with an inside leg kick. High leads in with a jab, which is countered. Sakurai scoops in for the takedown. Sakurai completes the takedown, and begins to work out of half-guard. High controlling the posture while Sakurai grinds his way through this position. Little action as neither fighter can advance the position. The fight is stood up, and High is issued a yellow card penalty. Sakurai counters with a good combination. They clinch, and as they hit the mat, high ends up on top, in Sakurai's guard. High looks to pass, working to half-guard. The round closes with High on top. Sakurai likely takes the lackluster round.

Round 2 - Both men look to tie up simultaneously. High gets the advantage, forcing Sakurai into the ropes, but as they hit the ground Sakurai ends up on top. High powers out of an armbar attempt and winds up in Sakurai's guard. Sakurai working from the bottom with hammerfists. High answers with some of his own. Sakurai with the open guard, getting pounded on, moves into the ropes. The referee moves the fighters to the center of the cage and restarts the action. High attempts to pass, but Sakurai defends well, mantaining full guard. High attempts to stand, but Sakurai pulls him back down. High lands a series of rights. he action stalls as the round closes. Jason High takes round two.

Round 3 - Sakurai leaps in with a knee. High tries to scramble away, but Sakurai lands another one to the body. Sakurai gets an easy double-leg. Sakurai on top, in half-guard, starting to grind away. He mounts High momentarily, but High sweeps and ends up on top. High works for position, then is stood up before he could cause any damage. High quickly gets the fight back to the ground with a single-leg. In Sakurai's guard, High is still unable to do any significant damage. The referee pauses the action to give Sakurai an yellow card penalty. Sakurai lands a knee on the restart. Sakurai lands a left, and stuns High. High gets a takedown, and closes the fight on top. Sakurai may have stolen the round with the late damage.

Decision - Jason High wins by split decision

Tatsuya Kawajiri vs. Josh Thomson (MMA Rules 3 x 5 minutes)

Round 1 - Thompson and Kawajiri both coming out quick. Both winging kicks and punches with power. Neither really connecting. They clinch, and Kawajiri gets the spinning takedown. Kawajiri in Thompson's guard, working hard for a good position. Thompson holding on tight, trying to keep Kawajiri at bay. Kawajiri finally passes guard and mounts Thompson. Thompson is working hard to escape, but Kawajiri wraps the legs tightly and works the ground-and-pound. Thompson works back to butterfly guard, but Kawajiri is still working, landing punches one at a time. Thompson gets back to full guard, holding Kawajiri close. Thompson lands a good upkick as the bell sounds. Kawajiri takes round one.

Round 2 - Thompson comes out wild to open the round and Kawajiri capitalizes and is immediately on top. Kawajiri working for an arm triangle. Kawajiri gives it up, but not before moving back to mount. Kawajiri continues to work smartly from the top. Thompson gets back to his feet, landing a knee on the way up. As the two hit the ground again Kawajiri ends up on top, but in the ropes. The referee moves them back to the center of the ring. Kawajiri on top, in Thompson's full guard. Thompson is peppered with a handful of hammerfists. Thompson working well to keep his guard and avoid too much damage. Thompson stands, but Kawajiri maintains control of his back. He gets a a slam, but loses his position to Thompson. Thompson on Kawajiri's back, breaks them up and resets them. Thompson lands a good front kick right before the bell. Kawajiri takes another round.

Round 3 - The two clinch quickly. Thompson pressing Kawajiri into the ropes. Back to the mat, Kawajiri falls back on top. Kawajiri passes to side control. Thompson spins, Kawajiri stays on top. The referee again pauses to move the fighters away from the ropes. Kawajiri moves to side control, and begins to work in the knees. Thompson scrambles to his feet, and begins to throw with abandon. He lands a flying knee that backs up Kawajiri. Kawajiri weathers the storm and gets the fight back to the ground. Kawajiri from the top position, again works for the arm triangle. The round ends, with Kawajiri still on top, and taking another round.

Decision - Tatsuya Kawajiri wins by unanimous decision

 

Bibiano Fernandes vs. Hiroyuki Takaya (MMA Rules)
Dream Featherweight Championship

Round 1 (10 min.) - Fernandes circles early. Both men searching for range. Takaya lands a leg kick. Fernandes pawing with the jab. Takaya again with the leg kick. Fernandes shoots in for a takedown, and gets it quickly. Takaya defending the striking. Fernandes passes to mount, instantly Takaya gets out and back to his feet. Takaya with an inside leg kick, and another. Fernandes lands a glancing right hand. Fernandes starting to throw now. Takaya continues working the leg kick. The referee calls for more action. Takaya still with the leg kicks. Fernandes seems sontne to work the counter-striking. He initiates the clinch, but Takaya defends the shot. Fernandes forces him into the corner, working knees to the inside thigh. Fernandes wings and misses a right hand. Takaya landing only leg kicks, his punches still coming up short. Fernandes lands a right. Fernandes shoots, but Takaya sprawld, and the bell sounds. Close first round, likely scored for Takaya.

Round 2 (5 min.) - Takaya throwing the left jab, followed up with the left hook. Fernandes looking to land the power right hand. Both fighters displaying solid defensive skills. Fernandes with a right, followed by a Takaya leg kick. Fernandes shoots again, again he's stuffed. In the corner, the referee separates them again. Fernandes drops low , and forces Takaya into the corner again. Fernandes going to work with the knees, to the thigh. Takaya loosening up his hands, doubling up his jabs. Takaya follows up a right hand with a takedown attempt, but its stuffed. The bell rings and another tough round to score, likely again to Takaya.

Round 3 (5 min.) - Fernandes swings wildly with the right. Takaya answers with a combination. Fernandes shoots, pushing Takaya through the ropes. Fernandes shoots in again, this time getting thee takedown. Takaya scoots into the ropes. Fernandes cannot keep Takaya down. Evntually, Fernandes pulls guard. Takaya beating down with hammerfists. Locked in Fernandes' guard, Takaya goes to work with the ground-and-pound. He rocks Fernandes with a right. Fernandes rolls, Takaya stays with him as they roll under the ropes. The referee drags them back to the center of the ring. Takaya is beating the champion down from this position. Fernandes working hard to get a into a submission position. Takaya still forcing the fight on Fernandes. The bells sounds with Takaya still dominating the champion. He seals the fight by dominating the final round.

Decision - Hiroyuki Takaya wins by unanimous decision
