· UFC 125: Round-By-Round & Post Fight Coverage

Tonight's "UFC 125: Resolution" event will be broadcast on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.  The event features a  lightweight  title main event matchup between champion Frankie Edgar and undefeated challenger Gray Maynard.. Also featured will be a middleweight slugfest featuring Chris Leben and Brian Stann. Catch all the live blow-by-blow action as we bring you live coverage of the main broadcast card round-by-round.

The prelims are over and the main card is coming up. If the Main Event card is anything like the fights earlier this evening, we will be in for a treat.

 

* Because the UFC will occassionally broadcast undercard bouts during the pay-per-view, the prelims will not be updated until the event has completed.

Antonio McKee vs. Jacob Volkmann  (Unaired Prelim)

Official Decision - Jacob Volkmann wins via split decision (28-29, 29-28, 29-28)

 

Daniel Roberts vs. Grag Soto  (Unaired Prelim)

Round 1 - Roberts comes out throwing a combination. Soto lands a good right hand. Soto looking for a choke. He has an arm-in guillotine. Soto doesn't have the bosy control. Roberts separates, and avoids a head kick. Roberts takes a body shot from Soto. Roberts shoots in and gets the takedown. Roberts looks for position. Soto defending. Roberts rolls and has a kimura. Soto taps quickly.

Official Decision - Daniel Roberts wins via submission (kimura) at 3:45 of Round 1


Mike Brown vs. Diego Nunes  (Unaired Prelim)

Official Decision - Diego Nunes wins via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)


Brad Tavares vs. Phil Baroni  (ION TV Broadcast)

Round 1 - The two come out and circle for a moment. Tavares lands a couple solid like kicks. Baroni keeping his distance until he steps in and rocks Tavares. Tavares hits the ground and Baroni pounces on him. He quickly looked for a submission, but gave it up in order to keep position over Tavares. As Tavares tries to stand, Baroni graps the neck and lands a few punches on the break. Tavares then pushes in, pinning Baroni into the cage. Baroni stuffs a takedown with an effective sprawl, then stands back up. The referee halts the action for an apparent low blow by Baroni. As the action resumes Tavares lands a good leg kick, followed  by a head kick. Tavares then unloads a big knee, followed by a barrage of rights that force the referee to stop the bout, and award Tavares with the TKO win.

Official Decision - Brad Tavares wins by KO (punches) at 4:20 of Round 1

 

Dustin Poirier vs. Josh Grispi  (ION TV Broadcast)

Round 1 - Grispi opens up with a leg kick. Poirier answers with a good front kick, backing up Grispi. Grispi answers with one of his own. In the clinch, Grispi jumps for guard, but abandons it quickly. Poirier opens up with several knees to the mid section. Grispi answers. Poirier again with a knee, this one on the chin. Poirier pressuring Grispi with knees and elbos. Grispi shoots, and Poirier reverses. He quickly stands and forces the action back up. Poirier again with front kicks and knocks Grispi off his feet with one. Grispi looks to make a go of it on the ground, but Poirier defends and stands. Poirier is lighting Grispi up with punch after punch, chasing him backwards and forcing him to the mat to look for a takedown. Poirier follows him down and Grispi looks for a kimura. Grispi still looking for the arm lock, pulls out the arm, but losses it. Poirier in Grispi's guard as the round ends. Poirier takes the round 10-9.

Round 2 - Grispi throws a headkick to open the round, Poirier answers with a knee. Grispi clinches and puts Poirier into the fence, where he is quickly reversed. Poirier lands a sharp elbow and series of uppercuts. Grispi drops down for a takedown. Poirier avoids it momentarily, but is eventually taken down. He revereses to end up on top and begins to rain down punches. Poirier stands and forces the two to reset. Poirier goes back on the attack, with the muay thai plum. Grispi is forced into a defensive position, and tries to shoot. Poirier sprawls, and forces Grispi to pull guard. Poirier stays close and lands a cople short shots. Grispi throws up the legs for a triangle, but Poirier slams his way out, delivering a punch or two on the exit. Grispi stands back up and Poirier goes back to the thai clinch. The round closes with Poirier landing several stiff hooks. Poirier takes this round 10-8.

Round 3 - Grispi opens the round with a right hand, but ends up in the clinch quickly. Poirier continues with the knees. Then throws a stiff left hand. Grispi drops for a takedown, but Poirier defends easily. As they stand back up, Poirier goes right back to the clinch. Again Grispi drops, but Poirier stays out of trouble and goes right back to battering Grispi. Grispi eats another high knee, catches the next one and takes Poirier down. Grispi is in half guard, working for mount, but loses that position and ends up in full guard. Grispi lands a short elbow, but Poirier is tying him up well. Grispi advances to side control with under a minute left. Poirier swings the hips, and regains full guard. Ten seconds left and Grispi cannot get anything done before the round ends. 10-9 again for Poirier.

Official Decision - Dustin Poirier wins by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

 

Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stevens  (ION TV Broadcast)

Round 1 - Stevens takes the center of the cage, he opens up looking for the clinch. Stevens lands a knee from that clinch. Davis side-stepping and throwing the jab. Stevens comes in for the clinch and presses Davis into the fence. Davis steps over, and gets the takedown with a body lock foot trip. Davis, from half-guard, unable to cause any damage before Stevens regains his feet. Davis comtinues to press the fight into the cage, until Stevens gets free. Davis lands a big left and staggers Stevens. Stevens stumbles backwards, and Davis chases him in and clinches. Stevens recovers as the bell sounds. Davis takes the round 10-9.

Round 2 - Davis comes out pumping the right jab. Stevens answers with a leg kick. Stevens slips a left and delivers a good body shot. Stevens again slips a left and lands a leg kick. Davis lands a left and looks to clinch, but Stevens breaks free. Stevens with a spinning back fist, but its blocked. Davis stuffs a takedown, but is pinned into the cage. Stevens working hard for a takedown, but cannot complete it. Davis then reverses and gets the takedown. Davis lands in side control. Stevens grabs Davis' arm and works back to full guard, while keeping control of the arm. Stevens losses the arm and Davis starts to work the ground-and-pound, but Stevens is answering well from the bottom ,all the way up to the bell. Davis takes this round as well, 10-9.

Round 3 - Stevens takes a right to the chin right out of the gate. Davis circling and Stevens is going for broke winging some big punches. Davis answers with a short left hook. Davis lands a kick to the body. Davis lands a lead uppercut and a left. Stevens still looking for the one shot, but cannot find it. He lands a stiff right to the chin of Davis, but no real dammage. Davis lands another left, and another. Stevens answers a right with a an uppercute, then lands a huge right uppercut right on the jaw, dropping Davis. He adds the exclamation point with a diving punch. Stevens wins by a highlight real KO.

Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida

Round 1 - Guida comes out with his trademark bouncing in and out. Gomi coiled, ready to strike. Gomi paws with the left as Guida continues to dance in and out. Gomi lands a left and switches stances. Gomi with another left, and Guida answers with a head kick. Gomi unphased. Gomi ducks a big swing by Guida. Guida shoots for a single leg, but Gomi defends. Gomi lands a right to the bidy and another. Gomi lands the left again and leans back avoiding a Guida headkick. Gomi again lands the pawing right hand. Guida still bouncing around. Gomi lands a left. Gomi again with a right hand. Guida shoots and is stuffed. Guida lands another high kick and immediately takes Gomi down. Gomi gets to full guard quickly. Guida in half guard, the round ends with Guida on top. The judges have a difficult score task here, and probably lean toward Guida. We give it Gomi on punches, 10-9.

Round 2 -Guida pumping the right hand to open the round. Gomi answers with a right of his own. Gomi again swings a big right that just misses. Guida shoots for a single leg. Gomi defends momentarily. Guida stays with it pushing in deeper and deeper, but Gomi stays off the floor. Guida stepping in with punches, but are just short. Gomi seems to to be waiting for Guida to step all the way in. Guida lands another head kick. Gomi lands a left to the body.  Guida answers with left-right combo. Gomi lands a big knee, and Guida takes down the Japanese star. Gomi's arm is trapped as Guida pushes forward. Guida lands an elbow and then switches to a guillotine. As soon as Guida rolls underneath, Gomi gives it up. Nice submission win for Guida.

Dong Hyun Kim vs. Nate Diaz

Round 1 - Diaz comes out agressive. Kim lands a leg kick. Diaz with a jab to the body. Kim again with the leg kick. Diaz chases him back with jabs, Kim gets body control and gets the takedown. Diaz working the legs up high, Kim pressing hard, lands a big left hand. Kim into half guard, then briefly in side control. Kim working hard, looking for position after psosition. Diaz defending and moving well. Diaz looks for an armbar, but cannot finish. Kim stands, takes an upkick from Diaz. Kim stacks up Diaz, and keeps Diaz on the defensive. Kim takes Diaz's back, and Diaz rolls, triangling Kim's leg. He uses that position to get back to his feet. The round ends, Kim takes the round 10-9.

Round 2 -Kim with an inside leg kick. Diaz lands a left. Diaz backs Kim up with a jab. Kim lands another kick. Diaz with a left-right, and ducks under a wild right from Kim. Kim gets an explosive takedown. Diaz working well off his back, throwing his legs everywhere. Kim, though continues to move, constantly advancing. Kim now in full guard, and both fighters throwing short punches. Kim lands a good punch. Diaz pushes free, but only for a moment. Kim takes him right back down as they stand. Diaz working brilliantly from the bottom, but Kim has been ready for everything Diaz has attempted. Diaz sweeps through and tkes Kim's back. But Kim gets free and stands. Diaz lands a left right as the bell sounds. Kim with another 10-9 round.

Round 3 - Nate out quickly with a snapping jab, and another. Kim attacks, but Diaz ducks under. Kim looking for a takedown, but Diaz swims and takes the back. Diaz pushes Kim into the cage. The two separate. The two clinch and Kim goes down. Diaz lands a huge knee, and knocks Kim down. The referee halts the action. Its a borderline foul, and the referee restarts the fight with only a warning to Diaz, but no illegal foul was called. Diaz right back on the attack. They clinch and Kim looks for the Judo throw, but Nat avoids and rides him down. Kim reverses and ends up on top. Kim takes the back, and Diaz stands, trying to defend. Kim gets the hooks in, but Diaz rolls and grabs for a leg. Kim gets free. Both men back to the feet, and right back down. Diaz on top. Kim gets up. Diaz lands a big kick to the head, from the clinch, and several knees to the body. Diaz pounds away with punches and knees from the clinch. Ten seconds and Diaz is pressuing Kim hard, all the way to the bell. Diaz takes the round, but probably not the fight.

Official Decision - Dong Hyun Kim wins by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)

 

Thiago Silva vs. Brandon Vera

Round 1 - Quickly out of the gate, they clinch. Vera lands a couple knees, and a leg kick. Vera with another knee. Silva answers with a knee to the body. Vera presses into the cage, but Silva spins and gets the takedown. Silva on top, throwing lefts to the temple. Silva works to half guard. Silva trying to posture up, but Vera is contolling well. Vera scrambles, but Silva sees it and ends up in side control. Silva lands several punches from this position. Silva swings around to side control from the other side. Silva looks for mount, still punching at every opening. Silva with an elbow to the chin, and he looks for mount. Silva ends in half guard, and then drops for an ankle lock. Vera gets free, but the round ends with Silva still on top. Silva takes the round 10-9.

Round 2 -Vera opens up with a knee and a head kick. Silva answers right backwith a right. Vera keeps throwing, and Silva kicks back, stumbling Vera. Vera retreats, and Silva clinches. Silva gets the trip takedown. Back in Vera's full guard, he beats away with hammerfists. Vera tries elbowing from the bottom, but Silva stacks him up. Silva step over a leg to pressure Vera. Vera clinches and tries to avoid any damage, burying his head in Silva's belly. Silva pushes away and lands several short shots. Silva now landing bigger and bigger lefts as Vera is smothered. Silva to the body. Silva pops up and lands a three-punch combination. As the round closes, Vera takes several elbows. Silva with a dominating 10-9 round.

Round 3 - Silva opens with a body kick, Vera catches it and knock Silva down. He raises his hands, and Silva jumps right back to his feet. Vera goes for a head kick, but Silva avoids and clinches. Silva takes Vera's back and drags him down. Silva gets one hook in. Vera trapps the arms, but Silva lands several knees to the legs. Silva still pressuring, landing several blows. Silva punching at the ear, as Vera tries to defend. Vera with his feet back under him, but Silva easily sits him back down. Silva then goes to slapping Vera in the head, double smashing his ears. Vera can only try to defend. Still on Vera's back, Silva still just pounding away. With only seconds left, Vera tries to stand, but can't. Silva should take a 10-8 round and the fight.

Official Decision - Thiago Silva wins by unanimous decision (30-26, 30-27, 30-27)


Brian Stann vs. Chris Leben

Round 1 - Leben starts things off with a body kick. Stann lands a good right. Leben comes in again, and again Stann lands a good right to the chin. The two clinch and throw wildly. Leben lands a couple good uppercuts. The two stay clinched. Stann works some lefts to the body. Stann pins Leben into the cage, Leben pushes away. Leben comes in, Stann hits him with a body kick. Leben looks for a takedwon, and Stann rocks him with a right. Leben hits the canvas and Stann follows him down. Leben eventually works back to his feet. Stann rocks him again, knocking Leben back down. Leben staggers back up, and gets dropped again. Stann, relentless with the punches, until the referee calls it off. Giving Stann an impressive victory.

Main Event:  Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar
UFC Lightweight Championship

Round 1 - Edgar comes out circling quickly. Edgar with a good inside leg kick. Maynard lands a lead uppercut. Edgar again with a leg kick. Maynard drops the champ with a left. and pounces. Edgar is getting wailed on by Edgar. Maynard pressuring wildly with punches. Edgaring surviving, but Maynard is relentless in his assault. Finally Edgar gets back to his feet and gets Maynard off of him. Maynard stuffs a takedown. Edgar recovering, but takes another left. Maynard again lands a left and Edgar is still hurt. Maynard continues to press. Maynard takes Edgar's back but Edgar gets back up. Edgar lands a right. Maynard lands a right. Edgar duck the left and lands two rights. Maynard tags the champion again, but Edgar is countering. Maynard again lands the left. Edgar comes back with a good body shot. Maynard takes the opening round 10-9.

Round 2 -Edgar ipens with a kick that lands on the arm. Edgar again with a leg kick. Edgar lands a good right. Edgar steps in and lands a duoble right hand. Edgar lands a short combination. Maynard yet to connect on anything clean. Edgar boxing well. Maynard lands and uppercut. Edgar lands a big right that almost spins Maynard all the way around. Maynard shoots, but is stuffed. Maynard misses with an uppercut. Edgar lands to the body. Again Edgar lands to the body. Edgar ducks a punch and lifts Maynard, dropping him with a big slam. Both men get back to their feet quickly. Maynard lands a left hook. Edgar again slips the right hand in. Maynard shoots and is stuffed. Edgar lands a pair of rights as the round ends. Edgar takes the round 10-9.

Round 3 -Edgar opens with a left hook. Then staps in with an overhand right. Edgar to the body with a kick, follwed by a left hand. Edgar with a hook to the body. Maynard lands a nice uppercut, catching Edgar coming in. Edgar with a right-left combination. Maynard going low for a takedown, but Edgar again steps away. Maynard with a right to the top of the head. Maynard catches a body kick, but cannot get a takedown. Maynard lands a left. Edgar still circling, but Maynard is beginning to walk him down. Maynard lands an uppercut, catching Edgar coming in again. Edgar answers with a combination and a leg kick. Maynard catches a kick and this time gets the takedown. Edgar reaching for Maynard's arm. Maynard spins away from it. Edgar secures a guillotine as the round closes. Close, close round. Will give it to the challenger, 10-9.

Round 4 - Maynard opens up with a double jab. Edgar shoots in for a takedown and quickly looks for a guillotine again. Edgar pops him as he exits the hold. Edgar again slams Maynard to the mat. Edgar takes Maynard's back, but can't keep him down. The two stand Edgar goes back to work. Edgar lands a big leg kick. Maynard lands a left and shoots, but Edgar avoids it. Edgar misses witha front kick. Maynard misses with a left hook. Edgar catches him with a knee. Edgar goes for a takedown, pushing him into the cage. Edgar lands two good lefts before they separate. The champion ducks under a hook to land a body shot. Maynard slowing, Edgar lands a four-punch combination. Maynard finally stuffs a takedown attempt and resets. Edgar pumping the double jab, and following with a left. Edgar takes this round 10-9.

Round 5 - No touchas they open the round. Edgar lands a left. Maynard lands a double left. Maynard to the body and lands a left hook. Both men connect on a combination. Edgar avoids an uppercut and lands a right. Maynard shoots, Edgar stuffs it and delivers a knee. Maynard shoots again, and again Edgar stuffs it. Maynard misses the uppercut, and Edgar answers with a left-right. Edgar has a takedown stuffed. Edgar alnds a counter right. Maynard pushes for a takedown, but is shaken off. Edgar picking up the pace to begin the final two minutes. Edgar lands an uppercut. Maynard again misses on a takedown attempt. One minute to go. Edgar alands a left-right-left combination, Maynard a left. Maynard again has a takedown stuffed. Edgar lands a left. Maynard shoots, Edgar sprawls. Maynard swings wildly, Edgar answers back, all the way to the bell. Edgar should take a close last round. The scoring in the first round should make all the deference in the fight.

Official Decision - The fight is declared a draw (48-46 Maynard, 48-46 Edgar, 47-47)
