The third participant has been confirmed for the upcoming Bellator welterweight tournament. Brent Weedman (17-5-1, 3-0 BFC) has offically joined Dan Hornbucke and Rick Hawn in the 170-pound draw.

A native of Louisville, Kentucky, Weedman debuted at Bellator 16 in Kansas City as part of the local feature card. After stopping Strikeforce veteran Rudy Bears with a first round knockout, Weedman was placed on the Bellator 23 card in his hometown where he showed his versatility by submitting John Troyer in the first round. The rising star was then given a matchup with season two welterweight tournament participant Jacob McClintock, where he once again finished in the first round via TKO.

The 26-year-old has finished all 17 of his victories, with ten knockouts and seven submissions.

“Brent has put on some incredible performances for us over the last two seasons, he’s earned the right to be added to the season four welterweight tournament,” said Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Brent has the raw talent and potential to do big things in the tournament, which will be one of our most competitive to date.”

“I'm always looking to finish the fight,” said Weedman. “That's something I feel very strongly about. I'm a finisher. I've always had that mentality in any sport I've ever played. I play to win decisively.”

The eight-man tournament is expected to begin in March and will be broadcast on MTV2.
